The new homes at Killingworth Gate are ideally located for those wishing to undertake a range of local trips on foot. Within a 30-minute walk of your new home you will be able to access primary schools, a choice of supermarkets, gyms and a number of food and retail outlets. This makes it easy to leave the car at home and enjoy all of the benefits that walking has to offer when making short trips!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, if you\u2019re looking to get out for a leisurely walk then you\u2019re ideally located for that too, with a number of local walking routes nearby. Killingworth Lakeside Park is ideal for families with younger children, or those preferring a shorter walk, with a surfaced path around the lake that takes around 20 minutes to complete, as well as a playground and picnic benches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rising Sun Country Park is also local to Killingworth Gate, providing a mix of woodland, wetlands, grasslands and a large lake \u2013 making it a great spot for walking and wildlife spotting alike. The park offers a visitor centre, with a caf\u00e9 and toilets, a children\u2019s play area, free parking and bird hides for birdwatching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planning a journey on foot<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

If you are unfamiliar with the local area and looking to plan a route on foot, an online route planner can be a really useful tool to use. You can enter your journey start point and end point and the website or app will display a number of route options on a handy map. Alongside easy to follow directions it will tell you how far the journey is, how long it will take, and even how hilly it is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A good tool to use is Google Maps. Simply select the ‘directions’ option, enter your trip start and end point, and then be sure to choose the walking icon from the travel options available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
