Getting Around The Local Area By Bike

Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from your new home.

Killingworth Centre can be reached in under 5 minutes, where a number of amenities can be accessed. Palmersville Metro Station and Northumberland Park Metro Station can also be cycled to in just over 10 minutes, although as the development progresses and further accesses are opened, this journey time will reduce.

If you’re after a more leisurely ride, there are plenty of trails and spaces that you can take advantage of close by. The Seaton Burn Waggonway network passes right past the new homes at Western Grange, providing a mostly flat path making it accessible for all abilities. Built on old railway and colliery lines, the Waggonways offer a mix of countryside, urban scenery and historical sites.

The National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 10 passes across the north east of the development along Killingworth Lane. It forms part of the long-distance designated cycle route that spans the width of the country, from North Shields all the way to Cockermouth. The section through Killingworth follows old waggonways and quiet roads, making it ideal for all levels of ability.
